CRISIS INTERVENTION
The purpose of crisis intervention is to prevent exacerbation of the crisis by helping the client utilize his/her strengths to develop appropriate and effective coping mechanisms.
Our clinic is open to crisis calls whether by phone or in person - during hours. Selected staff will have beepers for any after-hours emergencies. Where there are indications that the crisis client is a danger to himself or others, if possible, parents or caretakers will be instructed to take the individual to the nearest psychiatric hospital, and call the police or nearest Psychiatric Emergency Team. Our staff will initiate as many contacts as possible.
If client is stabilized an appointment will be made for him/her to come into the clinic on the next day.
